Scotiabank Place to Host University of Ottawa Men's Hockey Game on Nov. 3

Gee-Gees to host McGill Redmen prior to Senators game

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 25, 2007) - Scotiabank Place and the University of Ottawa announced today that Scotiabank Place will host a Canadian Interuniversity Sport men's hockey game between the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees and the McGill Redmen on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m. The game will take place prior to the Senators game against the Boston Bruins at 7 p.m.

"This event allows Scotiabank Place to host some of the most competitive university hockey in Canada, and at the same time strengthens our relationship with the community, and in particular with the University of Ottawa."

The Gee-Gees finished the 2006-07 regular season fourth in the East Division of the Ontario University Athletics men's hockey conference and defeated the Queen's Golden Gaels in the first round of the OUA East Division of the playoffs. The Gee-Gees bowed out of the 2006-07 playoffs to the eventual OUA champion from the Universite du Quebec a Trois-Rivieres in a second-round best-of-three series.

McGill, which is in its 132nd season and is the oldest operating hockey team in the world, finished the 2006-07 regular season second in the OUA Far East Division with a 15-8-5 record and defeated the Concordia Stingers in the first round of the playoffs before being upset by the Toronto Varsity Blues in the second round. The Redmen lineup features a school-record 24 returnees this year.
