Scott Hamilton and Dorothy Hamill Join Skating Champions and Grammy Award Winning Artists to Celebrate Cancer Survivorship for "Kaleidoscope on Ice" -- A Holiday Spectacular

Star-Studded Event Aims to Encourage and Inspire Cancer Survivors and Their Loved Ones in an Unforgettable Night of Skating and Music

CHARLOTTE, NC--(Marketwire - Nov 17, 2011) - Olympic champions Scott Hamilton & Dorothy Hamill will co-host this year's Kaleidoscope on Ice, a holiday spectacular and musical extravaganza conceived to represent the full spectrum of colors around cancer awareness and to empower those battling cancer to celebrate survivorship. Kaleidoscope on Ice will air nationally on FOX on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 24, 2011) from 4:00pm - 5:00pm (EST), immediately following the FOX Thanksgiving Day Green Bay Packers/Detroit Lions football telecast.

Kaleidoscope on Ice will feature an unprecedented line up of Olympic and World champion figure skaters and award winning musical talent including Olympic silver medalist Nancy Kerrigan, 3-time U.S. national champion Johnny Weir, and Olympic silver medalist Sasha Cohen. Complimenting amazing skating, the legendary, Grammy Award winner Patti LaBelle and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks will be performing, along with rising country musician Hunter Hayes, and Billboard's 2011 Artists to Watch Andy Grammer. The unforgettable, star-studded roster also includes 4-time world champion Kurt Browning, Olympic silver medalist Paul Wylie, Olympic bronze medalist Joannie Rochette, 3-time world champion and 2-time Olympic silver medalist Elvis Stojko, and more.

Now in its 3rd year, the Kaleidoscope mission is to provide America's 12 million+ cancer survivors and their caregivers with inspiration, information and resources to help them thrive, live life to its fullest and feel empowered as they navigate their journey.

"Having battled cancer in my life, I know how important it is to remain positive throughout your journey. A little encouragement and support from others can go a long way," says Olympic Champion and cancer survivor Scott Hamilton. "I share the Kaleidoscope philosophy -- you are a 'survivor' from the moment you are diagnosed. That is how I felt when I received my own diagnosis; it is an empowering message that we want to share with survivors and their loved ones."

Hamilton was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1997. In 2004, he learned he had a benign brain tumor, for which he later underwent surgery to have it removed in 2010.

Kaleidoscope features the Kaleidoscope on Ice live event, nationally televised broadcast on Thanksgiving Day and a robust digital community. People are encouraged to celebrate a survivor in their life by posting words of encouragement to Facebook (Kaleidoscope on Ice) and Twitter (KscopeOnIce) as well as on the Wall of Survivorship on

"The figure skating community has been touched by cancer, like many other sports, and we have rallied and stayed strong through the encouragement of others," says Hamilton. "Kaleidoscope on Ice gives us the opportunity to come together to inspire other cancer survivors to be strong and remain positive -- our goal is to give them courage during their journey."

Survivors and their loved ones can access a range of resources offered by the Kaleidoscope Survivor Support Network, a broad network of advocacy organizations, to support them at every stage of their journey. The network includes: American Society of Clinical Oncology, Oncology Nursing Society, National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, Cancer Support Community, Fight Colorectal Cancer, National Breast Cancer Organization, ON THE LINE a prostate cancer awareness and education campaign, and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
