Scott Holbrook Joins Health Catalyst as Strategic Advisor

Industry Visionary, KLAS Co-Founder, Former Medicity Executive Brings 40 Years of Sales and Operational Leadership Experience

SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwired - Jul 11, 2013) - Health Catalyst, the leader in healthcare data warehousing and analytics, today announced the appointment of Scott Holbrook as Strategic Advisor with a focus on helping the company to educate the market about Catalyst's products and solutions.

A prominent figure in the healthcare information technology industry, Holbrook brings 40 years of experience to Health Catalyst, including co-founding KLAS, one of the industry's most respected research firms, and leading the growth of some of the most influential healthcare IT vendors and healthcare provider organizations.

"Scott is one of the most respected and admired operational and thought leaders in healthcare IT," said Dan Burton, CEO of Health Catalyst. "As hospitals and health systems strive to adjust to value-based reimbursement, which requires them to aggregate and make meaningful use of the mountains of clinical and other data residing in their networks, Scott's deep clinical and IT experience will contribute to our clients' success."

From 1977 through the late 1980s, as the first corporate IT employee of Intermountain Healthcare, Holbrook helped to build the health system's reputation as one of the nation's most efficient care providers, leading the Medseries4 multi-hospital business that is now owned by Siemens. In the 1990s, Holbrook led the laboratory division of Sunquest Information Systems, Inc., a leader in medical diagnostic technology. As Executive Vice President of Sunquest, Holbrook ran all sales, marketing, contract management, product management and business development activities, helping to set the standard for customer service in the healthcare IT industry and growing the company's customer base from 230 hospitals to over 1,000.

In 1998, Holbrook co-founded a small research firm, KLAS, that has since become the health IT industry's most respected source of unbiased vendor performance ratings.

Most recently, Holbrook served as executive vice president of Medicity, a health information exchange pioneer that is now part of Aetna, where he was responsible for all customer experiences.

In addition to his other roles, Holbrook has held multiple elected leadership positions in the industry's largest trade association, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), where he recently completed his term as vice chair of the board of directors. Holbrook served three years on the HIMSS Analytics Board; four years on the HIMSS Board; two years as chair of the HIMSS financial committee; and one year as the chair of the HIMSS Nominating committee in addition to various roles as a member of other HIMSS committees.

"America's health systems are on the cusp of organizing their vast amounts of data to transform care, and Health Catalyst is the one company best positioned to help them," said Holbrook. "I look forward to this new challenge and to working with the dynamic leadership team at Health Catalyst to help their clients reduce waste, enhance the quality of care and ultimately improve the lives of their patients."

Holbrook currently serves on the boards of three private healthcare IT companies. The father of nine children, he has been active in his community as a coach and supporter of athletics and dance. Holbrook is also very active in his church assignments.

Holbrook holds a Bachelor of Science in zoology from Brigham Young University and a master's degree in nutrition from Utah State University.
