Scottsdale Newlywed Claims $3.1 Million The Pick Jackpot

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - Oct 5, 2011) - A Scottsdale resident and newlywed, who chose to remain anonymous, claimed the $3.1 million The Pick jackpot from the September 28 drawing.

The Scottsdale resident purchased the winning ticket at Safeway, located at 14696 N. Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd., in Scottsdale.

As a loyal Arizona Lottery player, the winner plays $3 on each drawing of The Pick, each time playing one Quick Pick and two lines of her own lucky numbers. Her own lucky numbers were the winning numbers.

The Pick jackpot winner, who's been playing her favorite game for 15 years, checked her numbers the morning following the draw and realized she'd won $3.1 million. She and her husband had just returned from their honeymoon when she discovered her win. The newlywed couple chose the cash option and received $2 million before taxes.

"It was a thrill to award the newlywed with an amazing wedding gift at the Arizona Lottery Phoenix office," said Jeff Hatch-Miller, executive director of the Arizona Lottery. "As Arizona's own jackpot game, it was especially rewarding to meet the lucky winner and hear how this win will significantly impact this new couple's lives."

Winning numbers for The Pick are broadcast Wednesdays and Saturdays during the 10 p.m. news on Channel 13 (CBS) in Tucson and posted on www.ABC15.com in Phoenix.

Players can check their numbers by logging onto www.ArizonaLottery.com or by calling the winning numbers hotline at 480-829-PICK in Phoenix and 1-800-499-3798 in all other Arizona areas. Players can also opt-in to receive winning number text alerts by texting "AZLOT" to 411247.

Players must be 21 years or older to purchase or redeem tickets. Overall odds vary by game. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, these materials may be made available in an alternate format. Gambling Problem? Call 1-800-NEXT STEP. Please Play Responsibly™.
