SDL Announces Availability of SDL WorldServer 2011

New Release Features Alignment With SDL Trados Studio™ to Increase Leverage Throughout Translation Process

MAIDENHEAD, UK--(Marketwire - February 28, 2011) - SDL (LSE: SDL), the leading provider of Global Information Management solutions, is pleased to announce the release of SDL WorldServer™ 2011, a scalable translation management system designed for companies with global communication requirements.

The solution automates and centralizes the process of translating business content into multiple languages, while leveraging the collaboration of translators, reviewers and project managers within business systems across the localization supply chain. The latest release introduces several new advancements, and features tighter alignment with SDL Trados Studio to further improve translated content availability, translation quality and to lower costs to achieve these outcomes.

New alignment with SDL Trados Studio™

SDL WorldServer 2011 delivers a seamless localization supply chain through alignment with SDL Trados Studio™, including:

  • A new SDL File Type Server adds support for InDesign IDML and Microsoft Office 2010 files and enables files to be processed in SDL WorldServer 2011 the same way they are in SDL Trados Studio™.
  • Native SDLXLIFF support enables maximum translation productivity and maintains all project information during synchronization.
  • A new Studio-aligned project mode delivers full compatibility between SDL WorldServer 2011 and SDL Trados Studio projects. A WorldServer 9.x project mode continues to support existing projects, giving customers the flexibility to adopt the new improvements.

This alignment between two of the most widely used products in the translation supply chain enables consistent segmentation, scoping, costing and leveraging for translators using SDL Trados Studio™, and project managers using SDL WorldServer 2011, resulting in unprecedented efficiency throughout the supply chain.

These new capabilities build on the existing benefits of the SDL WorldServer translation management solution, including:

  • Centralized linguistic technology for translation consistency, maximum re-use and reduced costs
  • Content integration for seamless translation processes
  • Process automation to eliminate manual tasks for efficiency and reliability
  • Business intelligence and reporting for visibility and decision making
  • Flexible Customization with documented APIs to meet specific customer requirements
  • Flexible deployment options, with both on-premise and hosted solutions
