NEW YORK, NEW YORK--(Marketwire - Oct. 24, 2012) - SDL (LSE:SDL), the leading provider of Global Information Management technologies, is proud to announce it is helping The Associated Press (AP) to package and showcase multimedia content for the global news agency's AP Images, AP Archive and AP.org portals. Member news organizations and other commercial customers increasingly rely on AP for content for large news generating events such as the Olympic Games and the U.S. presidential election.
The project involved the integration of the three AP websites with SDL Tridion 2011® Web Content Management (WCM) solution. SDL Tridion's easy-to-use dashboard interface allows AP marketers to keep up with the pace of breaking news and quickly deliver fresh content to each website. The platform's agility and ease-of-use is especially appealing when it comes to events like the Olympic Games or the presidential election, when news agencies and AP customers look for archive content as well as breaking news. Using SDL Tridion, the team at the AP can easily search and retrieve content from its archives – whether a photo or a series of videos – and quickly package it to send to their customers.
"SDL Tridion has enabled our business teams to work independently of the IT department. Creating a campaign and making content changes once took weeks; now it takes minutes," said Vincent Tripodi, Vice President of Development at the AP. "Additionally, SDL Tridion enables the business teams to use both out-of-the-box and custom components that provide marketing teams with creative flexibility that was difficult to deliver before."
"The sheer volume of content that news organizations like the Associated Press work with can be overwhelming to older systems," said Jan Jaap Kolleman, CEO of the Content Management Technologies division at SDL. "The Associated Press is a forward-thinking organization that recognized the need to upgrade to a platform that empowers its marketing team to re-use existing content and increase the asset's return on investment. We look forward to celebrating the successes they achieve with SDL Tridion."
