SeaMicro to Demonstrate SM10000 at Intel Developers Forum (IDF) 2010 in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - September 13, 2010) -  Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2010 -- SeaMicro®, the Silicon Valley pioneer of low power server technology, today announced that its recently launched SM10000™ -- the industry's highest density, lowest power X86 server -- will be featured at Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2010 to be held in San Francisco from September 13-15. The SM10000, which uses one quarter the power and takes one quarter the space of the best in class volume server on the market, will be part of Intel's technology showcase, booth 904, in the high-performance computer area.

The SM10000 integrates 512 Intel® Atom™ processors with Ethernet switching, server management and application load-balancing to create a "plug and play" standards-based server that dramatically reduces power draw and footprint. The key benefits of the SM10000 include:

  • using one-quarter of the power and taking one-quarter of the space to do the same work as the best-in-class volume server
  • industry leading density: 2,048 central processing units (CPUs) per standard rack,
  • drop-in adoption by running off-the-shelf OSs and applications without change,
  • flexible architecture that can support any CPU,
  • it is just 10 rack units tall (17.5 inches).

Today's internet datacenters need to handle millions of relatively small, independent tasks, like those needed for search, social networking, viewing web pages, and checking email. SeaMicro's SM10000, announced in June of this year, was specifically designed for the workloads and traffic patterns of the web. It combines 512 small, power-efficient processors with the functionality traditionally found in an entire data center rack -- compute, storage, networking, server management and load balancing -- into a single, low-power system.

IDF is the premier global technology industry event bringing together technology professionals who are actively directing where technology is going. The event will be held at Moscone Center West in San Francisco from September 13-15, 2010. For more information on SeaMicro SM10000 or to schedule an appointment with a SeaMicro executive, please visit
