SearchStorage Gives Gold to BlueArc Titan 3200 in Product of the Year Awards

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - February 24, 2009) - BlueArc® Corporation, a leader in scalable, high-performance unified network storage, today announced that its Titan 3200 storage solution achieved the "Gold" position in the Disk and Disk Subsystems category of SearchStorage's Product of the Year Awards for 2008. In selecting Titan for the top award in its category, SearchStorage judges cited the storage solution's high marks for performance as a primary strength, distinguishing it from the competition.

"SearchStorage judges recognized what our customers and partners value in BlueArc's architecture and technology," said Mike Gustafson, president and CEO of BlueArc. "Being named as Product of the Year is an honor that reflects our dedication to developing breakthrough networked storage solutions that make a difference in our customers' success -- helping to transform our performance and scalability leadership into real business benefit. Our passion lies in lining up our platform and solutions to help our customers get more done in less time, reducing complexity and their total cost of ownership while accommodating the growing demands on information growth and optimizing data management and movement."

In addition to doubling the world-record performance and capacity of the previous generation of Titan solutions, BlueArc was cited for introducing open application programming interfaces (APIs) that solution partners have tapped to add functionality including information lifecycle management, data virtualization, data retention and reduction.

Titan's performance leadership, named as a major reason BlueArc was selected for the gold in this year's awards, enables customers to consolidate multiple competitive systems, substantially reducing hardware, software, labor and infrastructure costs. Additionally, BlueArc's advanced virtualization technologies, including Cluster Namespace, Virtual Servers and Storage Pools, with Thin Provisioning, simplify storage administration, improve productivity and greatly increase storage utilization rates.

Titan earned praise from one judge who declared it the "fastest NAS in the market" and good value "because of the ability to consolidate multiple NAS systems," along with impressive scalability. Offering up to 200,000 input/output operations per second (IOPS) and throughput of 20 gigabits per second, the Titan 3000 series supports file systems up to 256 terabytes and a global namespace of up to a maximum capacity of 4 petabytes.

The Titan 3000 series is well-suited for applications requiring high bandwidth and IOPS such as high-performance applications and enterprise-level data centers. It also simplifies storage management and administration.
