Second Annual DuFour Award Will Give $25,000 to Model PLC

BLOOMINGTON, IN--(Marketwired - October 27, 2016) - Solution Tree, an educational publisher and professional development provider, announced that it is now accepting submissions for the second annual DuFour Award. The award honors high-performing professional learning communities (PLCs) that demonstrate exceptional levels of student achievement.

PLCs are schools that empower educators to work collaboratively in recurring cycles of collective inquiry and action research to achieve better results for the students they serve. Practical and research-based, the PLC at Work™ process is increasingly recognized as the most powerful strategy for sustained, substantive school improvement.

"The PLC model has dramatically improved teaching and learning in thousands of K-12 schools and districts around the world," said Solution Tree's CEO, Jeffrey C. Jones. "We created the DuFour Award to celebrate schools that have done an outstanding job at establishing PLCs that provide the best possible education to their students."

Established in 2015, the award was named in honor of Dr. Richard DuFour. An award-winning educator, best-selling author and in-demand consultant, Dr. DuFour is recognized as one of the leading authorities on the PLC at Work™ process.

To be eligible for the award, schools must be recognized as a model PLC on AllThingsPLC.info. One winner will receive $25,000 and five free registrations ($3,645 value) to the Summit on PLC at Work™, which will take place in Phoenix, Arizona February 22-24, 2017.

All entries must include an essay demonstrating the school's commitment and dedication to building a successful PLC, improving student learning and advancing instructional best practices. Applicants are also required to create a short video highlighting their accomplishments.

Entries can be submitted at SolutionTree.com/Awards. The entry deadline is November 15, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. EST. Solution Tree will notify three finalists in January 2017, and the winner will be announced during the 2017 Summit on PLC at Work™.
