Secretary of State Kenney Attends Young Asian Canadian Singing Competition

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 16, 2008) - The Honourable Jason Kenney, Secretary of State (Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity), will speak tomorrow at the Young Asian Canadian Singing Competition.

"The Government of Canada is proud to take part in this singing competition that encourages young people to deepen their knowledge of their heritage and culture," said Secretary of State Kenney. "This event presents a wonderful opportunity to learn from one another and, at the same time, to celebrate our common Canadian identity."

This is one of many events being planned by the Canadian Multicultural Council - Asians in Ontario to celebrate Asian Heritage Month.

The Government of Canada is committed to reaching out to all Canadians and is developing lasting relationships with ethnic and religious communities in Canada. It encourages these communities to participate fully in Canadian society by enhancing their level of economic, social, and cultural integration.
