section.io Launches Cloud Based Caching Solution for Developers

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA--(Marketwired - Aug. 10, 2015) - We are officially opening the doors to section.io, a service for developers to deploy website caching in the cloud with; SSL, metrics, logs, and alerting. section.io provides developers with easy and immediate access to the best platform to help them accelerate and optimize performance of their websites.

Aimed at Devop's and Web Developers section.io [https://www.section.io/] is a new service for setting up the open source HTTP acceleration proxy varnish cache for web applications. Users can sign up and within 2 minutes have a globally distributed cache solution. The burdens of server deployment, server management, implementation of metrics, logs, and day-to-day management are completely lifted by section.io.

Over the next 5 years, Cisco predicts "global Internet traffic will increase from 40 Exabyte's per annum to 140 and more than 61% of that traffic will traverse Content Delivery Solutions". Currently more than 2.2 million websites (based on Builtwith) are currently running Varnish Cache to help manage the content for their websites. With the ever-increasing utilization of global web content, the organizational focus on performance, reliability and security of their web properties is becoming more evident.

"We have not seen any truly disruptive innovations in the CDN space for 17 years since Akamai first launched the concept of distributed reverse proxy servers for website caching" - Steward McGarth, Founder. "We are leading a new content delivery paradigm for website developers by providing them with a unique level of control over the caching solution."

Developed by the team of web engineers behind Squixa (a website performance acceleration service with Multi-CDN). Founded by Stewart McGrath (ex; Graysonline, Microsoft, Ernst & Young) & Daniel Bartholomew (ex; Graysonline, Readify) section.io has also attracted funding from the Australian Government's Commercialization Australia program.

section.io released its first open beta in May 2015. To date more than 200 developers have signed up from USA, Asia, Europe and Australia.
