Security and Technology Veterans Join VidSys Board of Directors

Michael P. Jackson and Andrew Wartell Bring Decades of Private Sector and Federal Government Expertise to Further Accelerate Company's Leadership in Physical Security Information Management

VIENNA, VA--(Marketwire - September 14, 2009) - VidSys, the leading provider of Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) software that allows organizations to resolve business and security situations in real time, today announced that Michael P. Jackson and Andrew Wartell have been appointed to the company's Board of Directors. Together, bringing more than 60 years of expertise in both private sector and federal government roles, the two new board members will help expand the company's market reach as it continues to lead the evolution of the PSIM industry.

"Andrew and Michael are both renowned security and technology experts who will provide us with their knowledge and insight and help us continue to grow the company and reach our aggressive business goals," explained Chuck Teubner, Chairman and CEO, VidSys. "We are thrilled to have them on our Board and to leverage their expertise and industry contacts."

With more than 35 years in the intelligence and security communities, Andrew Wartell spent the last four years as vice president of global security and director of special projects at Goldman Sachs, where he oversaw the physical and technical security designs of numerous facilities including the new $2.1 billion headquarters building in New York City. He was the liaison to the World Trade Center Master Security Plan design committee and Goldman representative to the New York Police Department Lower Manhattan Security Initiative. He led efforts in selecting and testing curtain walls for blast resistance and is currently the private industry representative to the DOD/TSWG/Blast Effects Working Group. Wartell retired from the Central Intelligence Agency in 2002, where in his final assignment as associate director, DCI Center for Security Evaluation, he managed the DCI's physical, technical and counterintelligence security oversight of diplomatic construction, worldwide, including the US embassies in Moscow and Beijing.

"Drawing on my experience in both offensive and defensive intelligence operations, I recognized the unique opportunity to join a company whose vision is tied so closely to my areas of interest and the direction the market is moving," said Wartell. "I look forward to helping the company continue to grow and succeed as it develops solutions that make PSIM and situation management proactive, not just reactive."

Michael Jackson currently serves as president and founder of Firebreak Partners, LLC, which was created to finance and deploy high-value security technologies to protect critical infrastructure. From early 2005 through October 2007, he was deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) where he served as the Department's chief operating officer with responsibility for managing day-to-day operations. Jackson served as deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) from May 2001 to August 2003 where he focused on DOT's response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, including creation of the new Transportation Security Administration and management of recovery efforts for the nation's aviation industry. He served as a member of the Board of Directors for Amtrak and was chairman of its Audit Committee. He has also served as special assistant to the President for Cabinet Liaison, chief of staff for the Secretary of Transportation, senior vice president of AECOM Technology Corporation and chief operating officer at Lockheed Martin IMS's Transportation Systems and Services.

"VidSys is driving the ability of private sector organizations and government agencies to resolve together business and security events in real time, a business problem that continues to challenge everyone in the face of manmade and natural disasters," said Jackson. "I've seen first-hand the importance of what VidSys makes possible and I am excited to serve on the Board to help a company that I believe is changing the face of physical security."
