Sedgwick Expands Insurance Litigation Practice in London

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - Jan 6, 2014) - Sedgwick LLP announces the addition of David Murphy to its Insurance Practice as a partner in its London office. Joining from DLA Piper, Murphy focuses on complex insurance and reinsurance claims, including property, energy, engineering / construction, mining, BBB, financial lines claims, and treaty disputes.

 As the second lateral addition to the London office in as many years, Murphy brings more than 20 years of experience to the firm - both international and domestic. He has handled claims and coverage issues around the globe, with extensive work in the Latin American and European markets.

 Murphy represents a broad range of clients including composite insurers, reinsurers, Lloyd's syndicates, brokers and corporate insureds. He regularly provides counsel on the applicability of policy exclusions, governing law and jurisdiction and insurance regulatory issues.

 Murphy is actively involved in the London insurance community. He frequently delivers seminars on aspects of insurance and reinsurance law to his clients and industry organizations, including IntAp, the Reinsurance Accounting Forum and the Companies Insurance and Reinsurance Claims Association. He regularly writes articles for industry press / journals and is a contributor to a number of text books. He is a member of the British Insurance Law Association (BILA), an Honorary Fellow of the Centre for International Legal Studies (CILS) and a member of the Law Society.

 Murphy previously worked in the insurance departments of Eversheds and Barlow Lyde & Gilbert.
