Interactive Web Conferences Demonstrate Altium Designer's Latest Features

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - December 3, 2007) - Altium Limited, the electronics design industry's leading developer of unified electronic product development solutions, is holding a series of live Web conferences to demonstrate the powerful new features in the latest version of Altium Designer 6.8 (announced November 26, 2007).

The Web conferences will allow participants to witness the latest Altium technology and see how its unified platform can be used to exploit today's low-cost, high-performance programmable devices. Participants also will have the opportunity to interact with Altium's application engineers in an online Q&A session.

The latest version of Altium Designer has more than 300 significant new features and enhancements which further unify the board level design, programmable hardware implementation and embedded software development within Altium Designer's single design environment. Altium Designer addresses the needs of each of these design disciplines in a single, unified architecture and provides a single, coherent view of the design with a common user interface and data storage model.

The unified architecture of Altium Designer simplifies the task of designing electronics systems, harnessing new technologies and integrating the electronics design processes with the rest of an organization. Across these unified features, higher levels of design abstraction enhance design reuse, speed up the design process and extend the options for designers without having to acquire new skills.

About Altium's Desktop NanoBoard

Altium's Desktop NanoBoard is the next generation of the industry's first development board based on FPGAs. It allows rapid and interactive implementation and debugging of electronics designs. The Desktop NanoBoard has been specially designed to take full advantage of Altium Designer's unified electronic product development system and transforms engineers' desktops into a complete and interactive electronics product development laboratory. Altium's NanoBoard architecture is unique in that it features interchangeable peripheral boards. Target programmable devices are housed on plug-in FPGA daughter boards. Engineers can easily change the target project architecture and provides a versatile reconfigurable development platform independent of the choice of FPGAs.

About Altium Designer

Altium Designer is the electronics design industry's only electronics product development system that removes the barriers imposed by disparate design flows and unifies the different design disciplines involved in electronics product development -- the design of the hardware, the programmable hardware and the embedded software. Altium Designer's unified design environment means users can harness the potential of the latest electronics technologies, and move to a 'soft' design methodology without the need to acquire specialist programmable device expertise. This provides companies with increased design flexibility, reduced production costs and quickens time to market. Altium Designer also delivers the freedom to move between any device, from any vendor, at any time. It lowers total cost of ownership by eliminating the need to integrate extra devices at extra cost to increase functionality, or to create a complete solution. For more information, please visit
