SEGD Well Conference Comes to Cincinnati

Design Leaders Gather at SEGD Well Conference to Transform Patient Experiences Through Innovation and Branding

CINCINNATI, OH--(Marketwired - March 11, 2014) - The Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD) will bring together Cincinnati's leaders in design, architecture and healthcare for a two-day conference focused on wellness, healing environments, and the role of design in improving the overall patient experience. SEGD Well: Healthcare Innovation Workshop is set for Thursday, March 20, at 9 a.m. through Friday, March 21, at 5 p.m. at the University of Cincinnati's Live Well Collaborative.

SEGD is an association of design professionals who create content-rich, emotionally compelling, experiential spaces for a wide range of environments, from hospitals and transit hubs to museums and educational campuses.

Featured speakers at the SEGD Well conference include nationally recognized leaders with extensive experience in design for wellness and healing environments, from symbol design and nomenclature to interactive experience design. Key speakers and topics include:

  • Mary Dietrich of Kolar Design (Cincinnati) to discuss "Environments and Empathy: An Integrative Model of Patient/Family Experience" 
  • Jamie Cowgill of JRC Design (Phoenix) to discuss "Symbol Design for Healthcare Environments: Hablamos Juntos Five Years Later"
  • Greg Nelson of Gensler (Los Angeles) to discuss "User-Centric Design and Planning for Healthcare Campuses: Cedars-Sinai"
  • Craig Vogel of The University of Cincinnati, DAAP to discuss "State of Design Research and Innovation for Healthcare"

The conference agenda also includes the opportunity to participate in private tours of renovations to Mercy Health - West Hospital and Cincinnati Children's Hospital led by lead project brand experience designers, Kolar Design. The conference will also include a walking tour of The University of Cincinnati campus hosted by The University Architect's office, in addition to many trend discussion groups and panel discussions with nationally recognized leaders.
