Segment Heads East and Welcomes Former Twitter Executive Prashant Sridharan as Vice President of Marketing

Sridharan Joins Alongside Recent Executive Hires From Dropbox and Facebook as Company Experiences Growing Demand From Enterprise Businesses

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - September 01, 2016) - Segment, the customer data platform, today announced Prashant Sridharan as its new vice president of marketing. Sridharan will oversee all of Segment's marketing operations, including enterprise growth, developer evangelism, product education and customer engagement. The company also announced the opening of its New York office to support the fast-growing base of enterprise customers located on the east coast.

Sridharan is the fourth addition to the Segment executive team this year, as the company scales its operations to meet the growing demands for its customer data solutions. He joins Rick Armbrust, vice president of partnerships, formerly of Facebook, in addition to three executives most recently from Dropbox -- Adriana Roche, vice president of human resources, Zhenya Loginov, vice president of success and Thomas "Tido" Carriero, vice president of engineering.

"Segment has seen tremendous demand this year for our products as businesses invest in managing myriad sources of customer data to drive growth," said Peter Reinhardt, CEO and co-founder of Segment. "Bringing on leaders like Prashant, Rick, Zhenya and Tido will help us scale quickly to meet the needs of our customers by delivering unmatched product innovation, partnerships and support."

At Twitter, Sridharan spearheaded the developer relations team, creating platforms, programs, and products for the millions of developers building businesses on Twitter. He was previously a developer advocate at Facebook; a director of marketing for Amazon Web Services, where he helped build and execute the plan for its multi-billion dollar cloud computing business; and a director of marketing at Microsoft, helping transform Visual Studio into the developer platform it is today.

Reinhardt adds: "For Segment to be successful, we need to actively contribute to the developer community and be able to meet the unique needs of fast-growing startups and established enterprises alike. Sridharan is an incredible asset given his successful track record building thriving developer ecosystems at Twitter, Amazon, Facebook and Microsoft."

"I am a Segment super fan, having followed its product development and momentum since its founding. Peter and his team have demonstrated that rare ability to consistently build products that developers love," Sridharan said. "This is the perfect time to come onboard and contribute to what's next. Meeting the call of enterprise businesses hungry to understand their customers is an awesome challenge, and I'm psyched to be a part of the team that will succeed in solving for it."

Segment has over 8,000 customers currently -- 3,000 of which are mobile apps with over 500 million downloads -- including HomeAway, HotelTonight, Instacart, VSCO and DraftKings. Segment expects to grow its team to 130 employees by the end of the year and is currently working to fill key roles in its new New York office and San Francisco headquarters.
