Seizure of Unauthorized Items at Donnacona Institution

DONNACONA, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Nov. 29, 2013) - On November 25, 2013, correctional officers intercepted unauthorized items into Donnacona Institution, a maximum security federal penitentiary located in Donnacona.

Upon inspection, a total of 314 grams of tobacco was seized. The total institutional value of this seizure is estimated at $6000.

CSC imposed a total smoking ban in all federal correctional facilities through a phased-approach on May 5, 2008.

CSC is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone. CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband into correctional institutions.
