DRUMMONDVILLE, QUÉBEC--(Marketwire - July 16, 2012) - At approximately 9 a.m. on July 13, 2012, correctional officers intercepted an inmate who was attempting to introduce unauthorized substances into Drummond Institution, a medium security federal penitentiary located in Drummondville.
Upon inspection, a total of 409 grams of tobacco was seized. The estimated institutional value of the seizure is $6,544.
CSC imposed a total smoking ban in all federal correctional facilities through a phased-approach on May 5, 2008.
CSC is strengthening measures to prevent unauthorized substance from entering institutions, in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.
