Senator Larry Smith Marks Veterans' Week During a Ceremony at Ste. Anne's Hospital

SAINTE-ANNE-DE-BELLEVUE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 6, 2011) - Throughout Veterans' Week, from November 5 to 11, Canadians across the country are showing how they remember and honour our Veterans. Today, on behalf of the Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, Senator Larry Smith remembered our Veterans by laying a wreath as part of the annual commemorative ceremony organized by the Royal Canadian Legion at Ste. Anne's Hospital.

"The men and women who have served our country gave selflessly for our freedom, and one way we repay them is by remembering their sacrifices," said Minister Steven Blaney. "During Veterans' Week, we pay tribute to all Canadian Veterans and continue to honour those who serve our country today."

Several dignitaries, including Senator Larry Smith, were in attendance to recognize the contribution of Veterans at Ste. Anne's Hospital. The Hospital has a long and proud tradition of paying tribute to and honouring those who have served and those who continue to serve our country. It is steadfast in its commitment to providing our Veterans with the very best care and services possible.

"Generations of Canadians have sacrificed a great deal so we may live in peace. Battles and place names such as Vimy Ridge, Dieppe, Gapyong, Sudan, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Libya are now embedded in our collective memories," said Senator Smith. "Our Government is dedicated to providing our Veterans with the support and care they need and so richly deserve."

This year during Veterans' Week, make remembrance more than something you feel, make it something you do. Show how you remember by attending a Remembrance Day ceremony, visiting the local cenotaph or monument, sharing your thoughts of remembrance online, or wearing a poppy with pride.
