Senators Announce Teams for Monday's Sens Skills Presented by Metro

Sens to showcase skills on Feb. 21 at 1 p.m.

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 19, 2011) - The Ottawa Senators announced today the rosters for Team Red and Team Black for this year's Sens Skills competition, presented by Metro, which returns to Scotiabank Place on Monday, Feb. 21. The event, which is being held in conjunction with the Ottawa Citizen, Home Hardware, Milk, Team 1200 radio and Rogers Television, will begin at 1 p.m., with doors opening at noon. Parking is free of charge for all fans.

Sens Skills sees the players demonstrating their hockey skills in the following categories:

- Ottawa Citizen puck control relay - observe players illustrating versatility in stickhandling

- Recharge with Milk fastest skater - see players showcasing their speed on skates

- Home Hardware hardest shot - witness the power of an NHL slap shot

- Sens Foundation Accuracy shooting - find out who shoots with the most precision

- Team 1200 Power Play challenge - watch as players execute the 3-on-1 to perfection

- Metro Breakaway Shootout - who has the moves to be crowned king of the shootout

The Senators will participate in a 10-minute warmup, from 12:35 p.m. to 12:45 p.m., followed by the Sens Skills competition.

On behalf of Metro, the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players' Association, the Senators will donate this year's net proceeds to the Sens Foundation and the NHLPA's Goals & Dreams Fund.

Participating alongside the Senators will be 10 minor hockey skaters and two goaltenders from the National Capital Region. The 12 competitors were chosen through the Senators' Mini 1-on-1 program presented by Bell. Mini 1-on-1, a shootout tournament for minor hockey players, was held at Scotiabank Place on Sunday, Feb. 6, when the winners received the opportunity to participate in Sens Skills. 

Over the past three years, more than 50,000 fans have attended Sens Skills presented by Metro, with the Senators and NHLPA donating more than $350,000 to local charities on behalf of their partners.
