Senators Celebrate Hockey Day in Canada on Saturday, Feb. 21

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 19, 2009) - Each year, the Ottawa Senators join the country and CBC television in celebrating Hockey Day in Canada. For this year's festivities, which are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21, the Senators have several events scheduled leading up to, and on, Hockey Day in Canada, including the Senators' visit to the Bell Centre to face off against the Montreal Canadiens at 3 p.m.

On Friday, Feb. 20, the West Carleton Peewee B Warriors, randomly selected from among the more than 750 teams registered for the Senators T.E.A.M. Hockey Country program, will visit Scotiabank Place for the Senators' practice and will receive personalized Senators jerseys at the conclusion of the team's on-ice workout session. In exchange, the Warriors will present the Senators with their Hockey Day in Canada toques.

On Hockey Day in Canada, Scotiabank Place will host a festival featuring on-ice games and off-ice interactive activities. Sparty's Slide, joust and the Senators Hardest Shot inflatables are a few of the activities available for participants. Minor hockey teams already registered for the festival will play games from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Senators have teamed up with the City of Ottawa to encourage minor hockey teams and hockey enthusiasts to take to the ice at 1 p.m. at each of the city's 233 outdoor rinks in a celebration of the game of hockey. Participants are encouraged to take a photo of their outdoor involvement and submit it to the Senators at Those who submit a photo will be entered into a draw to win Senators prizes.

This year represents the ninth edition of CBC's Hockey Day in Canada, which this year broadcasts live from Campbellton, N.B., at noon ET.
