Senators game on April 28 achieves largest regional broadcast reach in team history

Broadcast numbers on all three partner networks up in 2012-13

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 4, 2013) - The Ottawa Senators announced today the Senators last game of the regular-season, on April 28 in Boston, set a record for highest reach, with almost 1.6 million viewers tuning in for some portion of the game, which was broadcast as part of Scotiabank Senators Hockey on Sportsnet. The average-minute audience (AMA) was 419,300 for Sunday's game, the second-highest figure in the history of the Senators on Sportsnet.

The AMA on Scotiabank Senators Hockey on Sportsnet broadcasts during the 2012-13 regular season showed a 22 per cent increase over 2011-12, marking the fourth consecutive season that the average audience has grown.

RDS, the long-time French broadcast partner of the Senators, also showed growth for the third consecutive season, with AMA increasing to 162,300, a 10 per cent increase over 2011-12. The average reach for each game on RDS was over 950,000 during the 2012-13 season.

TVA Sports, in its second season as a Senators broadcaster, showed an impressive 109 per cent improvement in AMA this season. A record-setting 550,000 francophone fans tuned in for some part of the Senators game on Sunday, April 28.

TVA achieved the highest audience for Senators hockey on March 23 when the Tampa Bay Lightning visited the Senators for a Saturday afternoon matchup. The game, which was also simulcast on TVA Network within the Senators broadcast territory, reached over 1.38 million people, and an AMA of 243,500.
