Senators Increase Season-Seat Sales by Over 13 per Cent to 11,300

More Than 40 per Cent of Season Seats to Decrease in Price as Team Works Toward Goal of 13,000

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 8, 2012) - The Ottawa Senators today introduced their 2012-13 ticket renewal plan for season-seat owners, announcing first that season-seat sales have increased by 13 per cent this year, to 11,300 - the highest figure since 2007-08. With the aim of achieving a goal of 13,000 season seats, more than 40 per cent of season seats at Scotiabank Place will be reduced in price for the 2012-13 season to enable a broader range of fans the opportunity to purchase them.

"The exciting team play and the direction of the hockey club has created a renewed interest in our tickets," said Senators president Cyril Leeder. "While ticket sales have been up significantly this year, we want to continue to build our season-seat base and therefore have found ways to reduce ticket prices further to help us achieve our goal of having 13,000 season-seat owners in the near future."

Through 56 games this season, the Senators have proven to be an exciting team to watch, with a league-best six come-from-behind victories when trailing after two periods, along with 71 third-period goals, the second-best mark in the National Hockey League. This style of play has translated into increased fan interest, as through 27 home games the Senators have already matched their 2011-12 total of 16 sellouts and have an average attendance of 19,222 this season - up 812 per game from the same point last season.

For 2012-13, more than 40 per cent of season seats inside of Scotiabank Place will be reduced in price by as much as 52 per cent. Under this new pricing strategy, 1,238 season seats will be available to fans at prices of $20 or less, more than double the 556 seats available in this price range during 2011-12.

The most affordable season seats inside of Scotiabank Place will be the 460 seats in the Coca-Cola Zero Zone, priced at only $15. These seats are available for purchase for as low as $28.33 per month, per season seat, for a half-season package, using the Senators' 12-month payment plan.

"With the goal of 13,000 tickets in mind, we are making these adjustments to make it easier than ever to become a season-seat owner," added Leeder. "We know these changes in our pricing strategy allow for a broad range of fans - from corporate business partners to college students - to find a ticket package that can suit their budget and interests."

In the 100 level at Scotiabank Place, both ends will now have a second, more affordable pricing level, with 2,673 season seats available with savings of up to 18.5 per cent on 2011-12 prices. The Senate Club, the home of Ottawa's best client entertainment amenities, will now have 360 season seats available for $103, which includes a game ticket and buffet meal.

In the home end of the ice in the 200 level, prices for 1,073 season seats were reduced by 9.2 per cent to $58.03 per seat, per game.

In the 300 level, the 460 seats in the Coca-Cola Zero Zone are available for $15, while another 778 season seats are available for only $20 per game. A 10-game season-seat package is available to fans for as low as $19.40 per month, per seat.

Renew early and save

For season-seat owners who renew their seats by March 15, a number of additional benefits will be available, including a two per cent savings for those who pay in full by that date. Those who renew by the March 15 deadline would also experience savings should the Senators advance to the 2012 NHL playoffs. If Ottawa reaches the playoffs, those who renew by March 15 would see no ticket price increase for the first round and would save 25 per cent on gate prices for all additional playoff rounds.

"In addition to the improvements in our hockey club, we have also focused on enhancing the fan experience at Scotiabank Place," noted Leeder. "This season, our season-seat owners have enjoyed the benefits of our new flex-benefits program. As well, all Senators fans have been rewarded with the new Bell HD Screen, now fully installed, and offering more than 700 per cent more video viewing space. The upcoming expansion of Highway 417 and the bus ramp directly to the highway are other significant improvements that our fans can look forward to. We will continue to make improvements in the arena to ensure we are providing the best possible experience for our fans."

As part of the introduction of the renewal package, season-seat owners will have the exclusive chance to participate in a question-and-answer session with Senators owner Eugene Melnyk, president Cyril Leeder, general manager Bryan Murray and head coach Paul MacLean in a special one-hour conference call on Thursday, Feb. 9, at noon. The conference call will be streamed live on Sens TV at
