Senators Sign Goaltender Alex Auld to a Two-year Contract

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 1, 2008) - Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today the club has signed goaltender Alex Auld to a two-year contract.

Auld began last season in Phoenix, where he played nine games with the Coyotes, posting a 3-6-0 record and a 3.54 goals-against average. On Dec. 6, Auld was traded to the Boston, where he went on to post a 9-7-5 record with a 2.32 goals-against-average and two shutouts in 23 games with the Bruins.

The native of Thunder Bay, Ont., began his career with the Vancouver Canucks and has also played with the Florida Panthers, Phoenix and Boston. In 140 career National Hockey League games, Auld has posted a 58-57-18 record with five career shutouts, a 2.85 goals-against-average and a .903 save percentage.

The 27-year-old set career highs for games (67) and wins (33) during the 2005-06 season with Vancouver.

Auld was Florida's second-round pick (40th overall) in the 1999 NHL entry draft.
