Senators tee-off at 16th annual Bell/Ottawa Senators Charity Golf Classic

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 8, 2009) - The Ottawa Senators announced today players will take to the links on Friday, Sept. 11, at Kanata Golf & Country Club for the 16th annual Bell/Ottawa Senators Charity Golf Classic, which has raised more than $1,095,000 over the last 15 years.

Bell and the Sens Foundation announced in May 2006 a commitment to raise $1 million for the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) over a five-year period. The 16th Annual Bell/Ottawa Senators Charity Golf Classic, which is the club's first official public function of the season, is one of the events that will help Bell and the Sens Foundation fulfill the million-dollar goal.

"The Bell/Ottawa Senators Charity Golf Classic is an event that we are extremely proud of. By partnering with true community builders like the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club and the Sens Foundation, we are able to ensure that the healthcare needs of the children in this community and beyond continue to be met," said Gary Cameron, vice-president, professional services, Bell Business Markets.

To get the day underway at 9 a.m., teammates Chris Campoli and Jesse Winchester will meet with 14-year-old cancer survivor Paige Dillabough and her brother, Garry. CHEO successfully treated Paige Dillabough for a malignant brain tumour and provided support for the family through her extensive radiation and chemotherapy treatments. The siblings will challenge Winchester and Campoli to a friendly putting contest.

"We are very fortunate to have the excellent healthcare services provided at CHEO available for our children and their families," said Danielle Robinson, Sens Foundation president. "The Sens Foundation is also privileged to have a great partner in Bell whose commitment with the Sens Foundation to raise $1 million for CHEO is unparalleled."

Interviews with players will take place at the golf course until 9:40 a.m., prior to the 10 a.m. shotgun start. A complete list of players, staff, management and alumni will be available at the registration desk.
