Senators to Display Their Skills on Sunday, Jan. 18

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 18, 2008) - The Ottawa Senators announced today the fan-friendly and entertaining Sens Skills competition, presented by Bell, in conjunction with the Ottawa Citizen, TEAM 1200 Radio and Rogers Television, returns to Scotiabank Place on Sunday, Jan. 18, starting at 1 p.m. Doors open at noon for the Senators warm-up, which begins at 12:30 p.m.

Sens Skills sees the players demonstrating their hockey skills in the following categories:

- Puck control relay - observe players illustrating versatility in stick-handling

- Esso fastest skater - see players showcasing their speed on skates

- Canadian Tire hardest shot - hear the power of an NHL slap shot

- Danone Accuracy shooting - find out who shoots with the most precision

- Juniper Networks Power-play challenge - watch as players execute the 3-on-1 drill to perfection

- Scotiabank breakaway relay - observe who demonstrates winning teamwork

On behalf of Bell, the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players' Association, the Senators will donate this year's net proceeds to the Easter Seals of Ottawa and the Sens Foundation through the NHLPA's Goals & Dreams Fund.

Participating alongside the Senators will be 12 minor hockey skaters and two goaltenders from in and around the National Capital Region. The 14 finalists will be chosen through the Skills First Challenge finals held earlier in the day.

The Senators will participate in a 15-minute warm-up, from 12:30 p.m. to 12:45 p.m., followed by the Sens Skills competition.

100-, 200- and 300-level tickets for Sens Skills presented by Bell are $15, $10 and $7.50 respectively in advance to the general public. Tickets for groups of 20 or more may also be purchased; contact the Senators group sales department at 613-599-0210 or for Sens Skills group benefits. All tickets will be $17.50, $12.50 and $10 respectively at the door on event day. Ticket prices include taxes, but exclude applicable convenience charges.

Tickets go on sale beginning Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 10 a.m. and can be purchased on-line at, by phone at 613-599-FANS (3267) or 1-877-788-FANS (3267), in person at any Sens Store or Sports Experts locations in the Ottawa area and at the Scotiabank Place box office.

Over the past two years, more than 35,000 fans have enjoyed Sens Skills presented by Bell, with the Senators donating more than $250,000 to local charities on behalf of their partners.
