Send Word Now, in Partnership With the New York Road Runners, Will Provide Emergency Notification Services for ING New York City Marathon Volunteers, Race Marshals and Staff

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Nov 3, 2011) - Send Word Now, the leading provider of on-demand alerting, response, and incident management services, and New York Road Runners (NYRR), one of the world's premier running, health and fitness organizations, today announced their continuing partnership to provide the 2011 ING New York City Marathon with Send Word Now's emergency notification service. In the event of an emergency during the race on November 6, 2011, NYRR will use Send Word Now's service to communicate with its volunteers, race marshals and staff to ensure that all runners, spectators and volunteers are kept safe.

Every year, the ING New York City Marathon draws approximately 47,000 participants, 8,000 volunteers, and 2 million spectators to the course, which runs through all five city boroughs. The partnership, now in its third year, will contribute to better decision-making and quicker response times during the legendary race.

"We are very pleased to be working with Send Word Now again during this year's marathon," said Stuart Weiss, MD, medical director of New York Road Runners. "In light of the numerous heightened security risks that have developed recently in New York, it is particularly important that we have a system as reliable as Send Word Now's in place to help us respond to any crisis at the click of a button."

"We are delighted to provide our alerting and response services to the ING New York City Marathon again this year," said Tony Schmitz, president and CEO of Send Word Now. "The marathon is one of the most anticipated events of the year, and we are happy to be able to support its security efforts through our long-term partnership with New York Road Runners."
