SendGrid Launches Free Application Load Testing Service

New Cloud-Based Loader.io Service Gives Developers Ability to Quickly and Easily Stress Test Web Apps and APIs With up to 50,000 Concurrent Connections

BOULDER, CO--(Marketwire - Feb 28, 2013) - SendGrid, the leader in email deliverability, today announced the launch of Loader.io, a new cloud-based service that gives developers the ability to quickly and easily stress test their web apps and APIs with thousands of concurrent connections. SendGrid is making Loader.io available for free as part of an effort to eliminate the cost and time roadblocks that prevent developers from building load testing into their daily coding and deployment routine.

Loader.io gives developers an alternative to the current cloud-based load testing services, most of which are cost-prohibitive for young cash strapped web applications to use with their frequent app development cycles. First released in private beta in December 2012, Loader.io has already made more than 1 billion connections, has run more than 5,000 tests, and has more than 1,500 apps registered.

"Development teams building the next generation of web apps are continually testing for functionality, but frequent testing for load performance and scalability remains a pain point," said Mike Rowan, Vice-President of R&D, SendGrid. "As with our core email deliverability offering, Loader.io was born out of the pain our own development teams have faced over the years with load testing. We're now releasing the service for free as part of an effort to give back to our fellow developers who have made SendGrid what it is today."

The service is now available within several third-party marketplaces, including Heroku, cloudControl and AppHarbor, and is currently integrating with broadly adopted monitoring and testing suites, including NewRelic, Scout, and CopperEgg.

Loader.io is also the first project to be publically released by SendGrid Labs. SendGrid Labs is SendGrid's internal incubator program launched last year with the goal to create innovative solutions that solve common developer pain points. Its vision is in-line with SendGrid's long-standing mission to empower web app companies to focus core resources on building outstanding products and services and to decrease the friction developer teams face with recurring issues like email deliverability or product scaling.
