SendGrid Launches Marketing Email Service

Email Deliverability Pioneer Expands Beyond Transactional Email; Introduces Volume-Based Pricing to the ESP Space

BOULDER, CO--(Marketwired - Jun 18, 2013) -  Email deliverability leader SendGrid today announced the launch of its new marketing email service. Designed for marketers who need a cost efficient, simple to use service that can reliably send high volumes of email, the new service combines SendGrid's trademark email deliverability expertise with the ability to quickly and easily design and send marketing emails and track results.

SendGrid's new service brings disruptive volume-based pricing to the email marketing space. Entrenched Email Service Providers (ESPs) have long held marketers hostage to expensive subscriber-based pricing models, which charge high monthly fees based on the number of subscribers in a company's database instead of the actual number of emails that are sent. SendGrid works with customers to understand their anticipated monthly volume in order to match them with the appropriate volume-based monthly pricing plan.

The service is designed with the same ease of use principles behind SendGrid's transactional email service. Marketers can choose from one of many newsletter design templates, build content and newsletter components with a drag & drop user interface, quickly and easily create recipient lists, and apply a spam test to emails before sending. Once the newsletter is ready to publish, marketers can distribute to their entire list in seconds and view campaign performance in real time via SendGrid's newsletter analytics dashboard, which provides insight into delivery rates, opens, clicks, click-through rates, unsubscribe requests and more. Similar to SendGrid's transactional email service, technical users can leverage an API for the marketing email service and forgo the online interface.

"Our email marketing service is a big opportunity for marketers who have been over-paying for email based on subscriber counts instead of the volume of email they send," said Robert Phillips, VP Marketing, SendGrid. "We're introducing the same transparency, fair pricing and ease of use to the marketing email space as we have in the transactional email space."
