Seneca College Students Gather Outside City Hall to Share Their Hopes for Toronto's Future

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - March 21, 2016) -  In a public speaking event on March 23 from 1-3 p.m., public relations students from Seneca College will share what they think will keep Toronto on the world stage when the novelty of global fame wears off.

Driven by the notion that public speaking is best mastered by speaking in public, combined with inspiration from the global spotlight that has recently been shining brightly on Toronto, students in Seneca College's Advanced Public Speaking class will present speeches at Nathan Phillips Square, in front of the iconic TORONTO sign.

All of the speeches will align with the theme, Toronto Tomorrow: Keeping the 6ix on the Map.

"It will be exciting to play host to my classmates in such a public forum," says Hillory Renkema, who will be Mistress of Ceremonies. "Our class has really diverse experiences, opinions and values, so we'll be sharing a wide range of dreams for Toronto's future."

Speech titles like "Toronto is the Next Hollywood" and "Fall in Love with Toronto by Leaving" offer a hint of what to expect on Wednesday afternoon from the 17 job-ready students, led by Professor David Turnbull.

"All of our work over the past eight months has been leading up to this," says Angela Mulela, who will be speaking about her dream for Toronto to become known as a beacon of opportunity for international students like herself. "I want to continue to live and work in this city that I have grown to love so much, so I think in the future Toronto should be even more welcoming of students from abroad."

These persuasive Senecans are eager for a challenge and are passionate about helping to improve the City of Toronto. They invite councillors within City Hall to stop by to hear their messages of hope and aspiration for the city.
