Senior Financial Services and Operating Executive Rahul Merchant Joins Exigen Capital

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - October 21, 2009) - Transformational private equity firm Exigen Capital announced that former Fannie Mae CIO Rahul Merchant has been joined the firm's investment team as an Operating Partner. Merchant brings to Exigen Capital nearly 20 years of Information Technology and Financial Services experience.

"Since the early 1980s, Rahul Merchant has established a proven track record for managing large technology and operations organizations around the globe," said Shenkman. "He is a proven leader with experience in transforming technology and business operations to deliver financial results."

Merchant formerly served as executive vice president and chief information officer of Fannie Mae. In this role, he led the Technology and Operations groups. During his tenure at Fannie Mae, Merchant helped transform the technology group from a "technology focus" to a "business aligned" focus.

Prior to joining Fannie Mae, Merchant was with Merrill Lynch & Co., where he served as the head of technology from 2000 to 2006 and as head of global business technology for Merrill Lynch. Before joining Merrill Lynch, he served as executive vice president at Dresdner, Kleinwort and Benson. Merchant also previously served as senior vice president at Sanwa Financial Products and first vice president at Lehman Brothers, Inc.

Merchant holds an MBA in Finance from Temple University, an MS in Computer Science from Memphis State University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Bombay University.
