Senior Promise 2016; Safety Campaign Targets Prom, Graduation and Summer Driving

SOUTH AMBOY, NJ--(Marketwired - May 03, 2016) -  Prom and graduation season are upon us. It's an exciting time for the class of 2016, unfortunately it's also a deadly time. According to National Highway Safety Association statistics, the summer months typically show a spike in fatal car crashes involving teens. National Foundation for Teen Safe Driving ("NFTSD") has launched "Senior Promise 2016," a campaign that underscores the importance for both teens and adults to make smart choices that can save lives.

Many schools require students to sign a pledge of no alcohol or drugs during prom. Senior Promise 2016 combines that pledge with a safe driving promise, and asks other students, parents, guardians and other community members to join the campaign and do their part to support the smart choices being made by teens.

"Prom and graduation celebrations should be among the most exciting and memorable events of a student's high school career," states Roy Bavaro, NFTSD executive director. "All too often we hear of a bad choice that instantly turns great memories into unimaginable nightmares. Senior Promise 2016 focuses on a call to action that reminds everyone that safety is a shared responsibility."

The campaign is being activated in many local communities across the country through the support of local automotive dealerships. Schools, local organizations and any others who want to be part of this important campaign are invited to join. NFTSD is making available posters, flyers, wristbands and other campaign materials to anyone interested in participating.
