Sens Foundation President Danielle Robinson Named to Ottawa Business Journal's Forty Under 40 List

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 2, 2011) - Today, the Ottawa Business Journal named Sens Foundation president Danielle Robinson to its list of the Forty Under 40 award recipients.

"I'm honoured to be included in this exclusive group of people," said Robinson. "It has been a great year for the Sens Foundation and I believe this award is a direct result of the great work and accomplishments of our team."

Robinson, (37) was promoted to president of the Sens Foundation in June 2008, after working two years with the organization as director of fundraising. Her career experience includes work with United Way, Volunteer Canada and Sun Life Financial. Having studied at York University, Boston College and Fanshawe College, she holds a post-graduate certificate in corporate community involvement and an honours bachelor of arts in sociology and mass communications.

"Danielle's dynamic leadership has propelled the Sens Foundation into its leadership role in building a better life for those of us who live in Ottawa, the Outaouais and eastern Ontario." said Sens Foundation board chair Max Keeping. "She has guided us through the changes necessary to ensure the greatest impact of donor dollars, especially in keeping with one of the Foundation's primary missions — to even the playing field for economically disadvantaged children. All members of the foundation board are thrilled that Danielle is being recognized for this award."

Since its inception, the Sens Foundation, together with the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, alumni, partners and fans, have contributed more than $65 million to community initiatives. At the Bell Sens Soirée last January, the Sens Foundation fulfilled a five-year commitment when it reached $1-million fundraising goal for the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

"Danielle has excelled in her role as foundation president — and it shows, based on the awareness of the Sens Foundation and the value of what we're giving back to the community." said Senators president Cyril Leeder. "We are extremely proud of her accomplishments and the entire community is very fortunate to have her working on behalf of our children and youth."

This year's Forty Under 40 awards gala will take place at the Hilton Lac-Leamy Hotel (3 Boul. du Casino, Gatineau) on June 16. For more information visit
