Sens Foundation Telethon for Roger's House Raises More Than $1 Million

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 26, 2008) - The Sens Foundation is pleased to announce its Roger's House Telethon presented by The OutCare Foundation received a record-setting amount of $1,019,000 in monetary support Monday night. The record amount is a combination of donations received during the telethon through online and in-game contributions, and cheques presented through fundraising by various organizations over the last calendar year.

Senators owner Eugene Melnyk called in during the second intermission and made a generous offer to match all telephone donations from that point until the end of the game. Mr. Melnyk's contributions pushed the telethon's overall total past the $1 million mark for the first time.

The telethon was held in conjunction with Rogers Sportsnet's broadcast of the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs game Monday evening, with Rob Faulds of Sportsnet and Leanne Cusack of CTV Ottawa serving as hosts for the evening.

Roger's House, the charity of choice of the Sens Foundation, provides a comprehensive pediatric respite and palliative care program with elements of outreach, residential hospice, pain and symptom management; grief and bereavement counseling and research. Since opening its doors in May 2006, Roger's House has had more than 250 admissions.
