Sensor System Solutions Receives Patent for Its Sensor Signal Conditioner

Signal Conditioning Chip Suitable for Automotive Market

IRVINE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 6, 2006 -- Sensor System Solutions, Inc. (OTC BB: SSYO), a manufacturer of micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) sensors, intelligent sensor interface electronics and intelligent embedded control systems, today announced it has received United States Patent No. 6,996,488 for its Sensor Signal Conditioner for temperature compensation, linearization and amplification of a transducer output signal.

3S' invention provides temperature compensation, linearization and amplification of the output of a transducer without extensive hardware and software setup. This patented digital approach utilizing application specific integrated circuits (ASIC) reduces the time-consuming adjusting and calibrating required of sensors and can be performed simultaneously on many transducers, despite differences between individual components.

"This is a great opportunity for 3S because we can provide a very cost-effective signal conditioning ASIC chip for a variety of industries," said Michael Young, President and CEO of Sensor System Solutions. "Our technology uses a digital approach, simplifies setting trim values for sophisticated applications, and is ideal for mass production, especially in the automotive market."

Previous technology did not take full advantage of the cost-saving features available to sensors using ASIC chips as they required extensive physical setup to determine and adjust compensation values to properly calibrate the device. The calibration process necessitated two-way digital communication between the ASIC chip and a computer as well as analog data transmission of multiple sensors; and, consequently, was time consuming, expensive, and not suitable for mass production.

3S' new patented solution utilizes ASIC chips to greater benefit than previous technology. The cost of this ASIC will be at least 1/3 lower than other ASICs due to the simplicity in its design. In addition, the calibration setup time is drastically reduced with this ASIC. These unique features make this ASIC a perfect fit for many of the pressure and other sensing applications in the automotive industry.
