Sensory Networks' DPI Software Pushes Performance to 160Gbps on Intel Platform

HyperScan™ Pushes Content Scanning Performance to New Industry Level on Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2600 Family

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - Mar 6, 2012) - Sensory Networks, the leading provider of pattern matching and deep packet inspection (DPI) acceleration software technology, today announced that their HyperScan™ library has delivered DPI throughput of 160Gbps with linear scalability. This was based on an intensive benchmark of HyperScan on a dual-socket platform (8-core, 16 threads per socket) using the new Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 family and Intel® C604 chipset, scanning against a tier-1 commercial IPS signature set. HyperScan fully scales across Intel® architecture, extending from the Intel® Atom™ processor to the highest performing Intel® Xeon® processor.

We expect this performance scaling to continue as new architectures emerge in the coming years."

Chart 2 shows HyperScan performance when benchmarked using HTTP traffic running on a dual-socket (8-core, 16 threads per socket) future Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 family based platform and scanning against a tier-1 IPS signature set. The software library delivers linearly scaling DPI throughput from 12Gbps on a single thread up to 160Gbps on 32 threads. Intel® architecture specific optimizations that include SIMD and Intel® Hyper-threading Technology ensure a high level of performance per core and thread count.

As a portable software library, its performance, scalability and adaptability directly translates into substantial gains in price/performance efficiencies, simplified product operations and time-to-market advantage, for both new shipments and products upgraded in the field.
