SEOmoz Releases New Marketing Platform, Stays True to Search Roots

Industry Leader Changes Name, Introduces Moz Analytics, and Expands to Inbound Marketing

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwired - May 29, 2013) - SEOmoz, the industry's most popular provider of search engine and social optimization software, today announced both its name change to Moz and the expansion of its software to include Moz Analytics -- a new platform designed to track and measure inbound marketing efforts and give all-inclusive analytics for websites and marketing campaigns. The move keynotes a wave of progress for the company, which has been on an acquiring and hiring spree since its $18 million Series B funding round in May 2012, led by Foundry Group.

"For the past decade, we've fought to make SEO a legitimate, respected part of a web marketer's arsenal," says Moz CEO Rand Fishkin. "Today that battle is expanding to include content marketing, social media, community building, brand tracking, and other inbound channels. While SEO remains a key part of our product, it's no longer transparent or authentic to say we're purely an SEO software company."

The Moz Analytics platform gives users a comprehensive view of their inbound marketing data from one platform -- with data visualizations over time, comparisons to competitors, and actionable recommendations. Platform features include:

  • Search Optimization and In-Depth Link Analysis. Moz continues its search industry dominance with improved reporting and continued support of all currently available SEO and link analysis tools.

  • Social Analytics. Detailed social media metrics, including analyses of traffic, engagements, and shares -- plus data comparison to competitors' social media accounts.

  • Brand and Web Mention Data. Moz Analytics shows where a brand, competitor, or industry topic is being talked about on the web. Companies can see where they are being mentioned on the web -- but not linked to -- and reach out for new opportunities.

"The transformation of Moz over the past year is a direct result of the feedback we've received from our customers and community," continued Fishkin. "We've taken input from thousands of marketers, and built the tools they need to understand the impact of their efforts."

The recent acquisitions of Portland-based companies Followerwonk, AudienceWise, and GetListed have established Moz as a trailblazer in the inbound marketing industry. The Seattle-based company recently opened a second office in the Rose City. More information on Moz's growth and new software can be found in Fishkin's blog post here. Moz Analytics is currently in private invite-only beta mode, and will start transitioning existing customers to the new software over the next few weeks.
