Serco Awarded $23 Million Contract to Address San Francisco Parking and Congestion Challenges
Smart Parking System Poised to Deliver Measurable Results and Tackle One of the Greatest Transportation Management Challenges Plaguing State and Local Governments Nationwide
RESTON, VA--(Marketwire - July 23, 2008) - Serco Inc. announced today it was awarded a $23
million contract by the City and County of San Francisco to deliver
procurement, installation and management of an integrated smart parking
system that will help improve traffic flow, reduce pollution and optimize
parking availability. Serco is the first company selected to work with the
City of San Francisco under an Urban Partnership Agreement to design,
deliver and manage a complete lifecycle congestion management solution.
This hallmark, two-year contract addresses one of the most significant
transportation management challenges plaguing state and local governments
across the country.
A trusted advisor to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency,
Serco will deliver an independent analysis of cutting-edge, smart parking
technology solutions that incorporate in-ground sensors, advanced parking
meter technology and integrated enforcement systems.
Serco will also install the smart parking system and manage and measure the
program during the course of the two-year term.
Benchmark congestion data will be obtained prior to the implementation of
the smart parking solution in order to report on the measurable impact the
