"Elect the Dead" is due out on Serjical Strike/Reprise Records on October 23rd. The album's first single, "Empty Walls," hits radio this week, with a video for the single premiering on MySpace on September 12th. Another album track, "The Unthinking Majority," is currently available on iTunes and getting huge phone reaction at radio stations across the country, including Los Angeles' influential hit-maker KROQ.

Tankian will embark on a promotional tour in the U.S. kicking off on October 12th in Chicago, then join Foo Fighters overseas for a series of European dates beginning November 3rd in Manchester, England.

"Elect the Dead" is already receiving early praise from various media outlets including The Los Angeles Times, which called it "brutally engaging guitar-rock" with "steely lyricism and throttling textures," while Rolling Stone noted that it "delivers amped, intricate, and political hard rock." Tankian produced the album himself and played most of the instruments, though he was joined by guest drummers John Dolmayan (SOAD) and Brian "Brain" Mantia (Guns n' Roses, Primus).
