SESSIONS X - The New Online Music Series Debuts

"SESSIONS X" the new online music series, curated by internationally acclaimed, award-winning producer Gavin Brown, is now online at http://series.sessionsx.com.

Last summer Gavin Brown teamed up with eighteen artists across various musical genres to craft their best in a live set of one-take studio performances. Sessions X is the result of those collaborations. The online web series features each artist's performances (six-song set) accompanied by an interview and behind the scenes coverage of the session. Visitors to Sessions X can watch a favourite artists entire set or cruise around and explore new artists.

"I've produced all kinds of music and I always enjoy challenges. But this was not about me," explained Gavin Brown. 'My role was to capture the performances. I've always looked at making records as movies, the visual nature of sound. So the Sessions X concept was very exciting and I believe we have captured some incredible music and performances along the way."

The Sessions X series features unreleased new material from Metric and The Shoe. Gowan, Scott Weiland and Ron Sexsmith perform some of their classic tunes, and Sexsmith, fresh from completing his new Carousel One CD, came in and performed a number of tracks from the new album, in an intimate acoustic performance.

Currently online are the Sessions X performances of: Metric, Ron Sexsmith, Buck 65, Gowan, Alejandra Ribera, The Shoe, Lee Harvey Osmond, Calum Graham, Dear Rouge, Wolf Saga, The Abrams, The Glorious Sons, and The Beaches In June, Sessions X will add sets by Scott Weiland, Joseph Arthur, Doc Walker, The Trews and Die Mannequin.

The focus of Sessions X was to ensure that the visual content was as amazing as the music the artists created. Produced by Lightbox Video in Toronto, Session X was shot in Ultra HD and recorded at the iconic Noble Street Studios in a kind of cinéma vértié approach, with the results capturing both the musicians and their music in a fresh and unique context.
