Seven Chefs to be Awarded Certified Chef de Cuisine

Attention: Food/Beverage Editor, Travel/Tourism Editor LONDON--(CCNMatthews - June 20, 2005) - The Ontario Restaurant Hotel & Motel Association (ORHMA), together with the London Chapter of the Canadian Culinary Federation (CCFCC), is pleased to announce that on June 20, seven Chefs in the London area will receive the highly esteemed "Certified Chef de Cuisine" designation, the highest professional culinary recognition and accreditation in Canada.

The President of the provincial CCFCC, Executive Chef Norman Myshok will be presenting each of the seven recipients with a plaque acknowledging this prestigious lifetime achievement. The London Chapter of CCFCC is hosting the Congratulatory reception to honour the most recent recipients of the "Certified Chef de Cuisine".

The recipients are Luke Taylor (Best Western Lamplighter Inn), Keith McMeekin (Highland Country Club), Michael Davis (Elmhurst Inn), Josh Gerosaval (Atlantis Restaurant), Kent Phillips (London Hunt Club), Patrick Herstie (Fanshawe College) and David Van Eldic (London Convention Centre).

In order to qualify for the CCC designation a Chef must have successfully completed seven years of work after achieving the Red Seal certification. Candidates are required to take a 6 month course and a final examination, comprised of both an 8 hour theory exam and a 6 hour practical exam, consisting of the creation and preparation of a 6 course meal for 4 guests.

"As President of the London Chapter of the CCFCC, I'm very excited that 7 more Executive Chefs in the London area will be receiving the CCC designation. This will certainly raise the bar for the foodservices industry in this region" said CCFCC London Chapter President, Executive Chef Nick Gucanin.

The reception, sponsored by the Hilton Hotel, Pelee Island Winery and Sysco Food Services, will be held on Monday June 20, 2005 at 7:30 pm at the Hilton Hotel in downtown London. Media are welcome.
