Seven10 Enhances the StorFirst Back-Up Family of Products to Meet Enterprise Compliance

New Levels of Performance and Security Added to Hitachi and EMC Editions Designed to Reduce Costs and to Extend Disaster Recovery Options for Object Storage

LAWRENCE, MA--(Marketwired - Jun 19, 2014) - Seven10 Storage Software has announced significant enhancements to its object storage data protection suite; StorFirst Back-Up EMC Edition (formerly StorFirst Altus) and StorFirst Back-Up Hitachi Edition (formerly StorFirst Apollo). Endorsed by Seven10 partners and end-users, StorFirst Back-Up offers a simpler and more cost effective software solution for replication and disaster recovery of both EMC Centera and Hitachi HCP object storage devices. StorFirst remains the only solution on the market that offers purpose-built replication of the content residing on these object repositories to tape, virtual tape and cloud storage. StorFirst Back-Up offers measures that provide customers with an additional level of protection from data loss as well as compliance with regulatory requirements.

The newest enhancements to the StorFirst Back-Up software platform are tailored for object storage technology sold by industry leading storage vendors EMC and Hitachi. The software advancements will help enterprise customers cut costs by up to 50 percent by implementing a replication and restore process designed for unstructured data and built to eliminate copy data. Furthermore, StorFirst Back-Up reduces the risk of data loss and facilitates compliance by ensuring a second copy of data reside off-site, on removable, highly protected storage.

New StorFirst Back-Up features include:

  • Certification with latest Windows Server Operating System
  • Enhanced performance (64-bit, upgraded database, Windows 2013 Server R2)
  • Improved task-manager utilizes new load balance feature that manages the scheduling of multiple back-ups
  • Increased performance boost with multi-threaded/multi-drive replication and restore jobs
  • Enhanced back-up and restore configuration settings (platform specific) for both data and metadata
  • Supports the latest version of Hitachi HCP, v6.0 including ACL's and custom metadata (annotations)
  • Restore objects to any HCP 6.0 system/tenant/namespace
  • Improved administrative efficiency: Multi-tape restorations, resource throttling, job manager

"Seven10's unparalleled integration and validation with object based storage platforms from EMC and Hitachi is a key reason why our customers, resellers and service providers trust in StorFirst technology. The latest improvements to the StorFirst Back-Up suite ensures that our customers continue to benefit from our long-standing development partnerships with both of these storage giants."
