Seventeen Becomes a Social Magazine

With 1 Million Downloads on Its iPhone/iPod Touch App, the Seventeen Fashion Finder, Seventeen Launches First App for the iPad

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - December 13, 2010) - Seventeen magazine, the fashion and beauty authority for 13 million teen girls, announced today the launch of the first stand-alone Seventeen iPad app, powered by Zinio, now available in the App Store. With interactivity on every page of the magazine, the app customizes the fashion and beauty experience for each girl, gives the reader a peek behind the scenes of the photo shoots, and allows the entire Seventeen community to share their thoughts on the stories without ever leaving the reading experience. The mission of the app is to replicate the fun of reading the magazine with your best friend and to allow girls to engage with each other with Seventeen at the center of the conversation.

The first issue of Seventeen magazine for iPad is the December/January issue and features country superstar Taylor Swift on the cover. A new issue will be available each month on the App Store.

The reader becomes the star of the magazine -- girls can access customized beauty content with a click to find the right shade of makeup for their skin tone, the best product for their hair and styling tricks for their shape and sizes. And in the personal service stories of the magazine, girls can leave a comment or ask their own questions to be answered by experts, editors, or other readers. And to make sure the Seventeen iPad experience resonates with the reader's own network of friends, every page can be shared via Facebook, Twitter and email.

"Our iPad app is perfectly positioned at the intersection of print and digital. We haven't abandoned the reading experience; we've enhanced it," said Ann Shoket, editor-in-chief of the magazine. "The magazine has always been actionable and social -- but now we've removed the barrier between the print magazine and Web."

In addition, app will capitalize on interactivity by linking to the blogs of Seventeen's real-girl beauty, fashion and college experts, who are popular personalities in the magazine.

The Seventeen magazine app is available for $2.99 from the App Store on iPad or at www.itunes.com/appstore.
