Seventeen Magazine Launchs Free iPhone Application: Seventeen Fashion Finder

Shop by Fashion Trends in Four Key Categories

NEW YORK, NY and MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - August 11, 2009) - Seventeen magazine, the fashion and beauty authority for 13 million teen girls, and NearbyNow, a leader in digital personal shopping services, announced today the launch of Seventeen Fashion Finder, the first branded Seventeen iPhone application to be available for free via iTunes for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch on August 7th. Seventeen Fashion Finder is one of the first applications built on the newly launched NearbyNow iPhone platform.

Seventeen Fashion Finder will feature a variety of fashion and accessories that are teens' fall must-haves. The application allows teen girls to search by product: jeans, tops, bags and shoes; by trend: rocker, bo-ho, classic and girly or by price point. The application then checks availability and reserves any of the products in stores nearby. Seventeen Fashion Finder is the first mobile application targeted at the teen market that allows users to locate and reserve products in their local area.

"Millions of teen girls turn to Seventeen for fashion and beauty advice," states Ann Shoket, editor in chief of Seventeen. "The Seventeen Fashion Finder is like having one of our stylists in your purse and makes Seventeen's tried and true advice available wherever and whenever our girls need it."

Seventeen worked with NearbyNow to build the iPhone app as a means to tap into the "social shopping" trend, giving consumers instant gratification with options to review fashions, share them with friends, and find and reserve items at local retailers. The platform is a virtually turnkey solution to create custom mobile applications with very little development work required.

The content in the Seventeen Fashion Finder application will be refreshed on a monthly basis and will included a selection of fashion and beauty products chosen by the current Seventeen celebrity cover model. September cover model, Selena Gomez, will serve as the first celebrity to be featured and will provide her "celebrity inspired" fashion picks.

Added Scott Dunlap, CEO and founder of NearbyNow, "We know that teen girls love to use their mobile phones, and they love to shop, so this app is the perfect combination for them. It's clear the iPhone is a major new shopping channel and one that teens will lead the way in using. We're very happy to have teamed with Seventeen to create this first-of-its kind iPhone application."
