Seventh Generation Donates $50,000 to Canadian Social and Environmental Non-Profits

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Nov. 16, 2012) - In a season of generosity, Seventh Generation proudly continues their commitment to social and environmental change in Canada with a $50,000 cash donation to three of the country's leading not for profit organizations. Show You Care Today Canada is an online campaign supported by Seventh Generation, encouraging Canadian voters to get involved and help determine how to direct their donations.

This month long program will donate $50,000 to the YWCA, WWF-Canada, and the David Suzuki Foundation. Activated through Facebook, voters have the choice to support one of the three organizations simply by placing their vote online. Votes can be placed until November 26th at 5:00pm. Each vote cast will help Seventh Generation determine how to direct their donations. The charity with the most votes will receive a $25,000 donation. The second and third ranking organizations will receive $15,000 and $10,000 respectively.

Participants are required to be Canadian residents (excluding residents of Quebec), have a valid e-mail address and Facebook account. Participants must also 'like' Seventh Generation's Facebook page to access and register their vote for WWF-Canada, the David Suzuki Foundation, or the YWCA. Participants are limited to one vote each, but can share the campaign through Facebook. No purchase is required to vote.

According to Ashley Orgain, Executive Director of the Seventh Generation Foundation, "From Seventh Generation's start 25 years ago, our mission has been to inspire a more conscious and sustainable world by being an authentic force for positive change. Our vision of a just and sustainable future motivates us to empower our community and others to care deeply, innovate boldly, and live sustainably. We feel that donating to WWF-Canada, the David Suzuki Foundation, and the YWCA through our Charitable Giving Program is another way we can live our values and make the world a better place."

Voting will run from November 5th at 12:00pm PST until November 26th at 5:00pm PST. Winning charities will be announced the following November 28, 2012.
