Seventh Set of Public Outreach Meetings for LAX Master Plan Specific Plan Amendment Study Set for December 6 and 9

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 28, 2006 -- Two outreach meetings will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, for the public to participate in the LAX Master Plan Specific Plan Amendment Study. This is the seventh set of meetings of a community-based planning process for the modernization of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Two meetings are scheduled for the public's convenience, but the information to be presented will be the same at both the Wednesday and Saturday meetings. The focus of these meetings will be to review and obtain community input on the North Airfield Preliminary Concepts, and re-use opportunities for the Manchester Square area and LAX Northside properties. The concepts are accessible on the LAX Master Plan website at

The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The second meeting will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Both meetings will be conducted at the Flight Path Learning Center, LAX Imperial Terminal, 6661 West Imperial Highway, Los Angeles. Free parking is available on site.

These meetings are part of the process toward implementing the settlement last February of lawsuits filed against the LAX Master Plan. The LAX Specific Plan Amendment Study was one of the conditions of the settlement that called for the creation of a prompt, community-based planning process to revisit and potentially replace controversial "yellow light" projects, such as the Manchester Square Ground Transportation Center, with alternative projects that increase airport efficiency and mitigate traffic, noise and pollution.

The study will consist of a series of public planning meetings followed by a formal environmental review process.
