"We have designed a line of slow cooker seasoning mixes that add awesome flavour to traditional slow cooked meals, a great solution for busy households trying to avoid the fast food lanes through the art of slow cooking," says Caitlin Latham, Senior Product Manager, McCormick Canada. "Club House has mixed the perfect blend of seasonings for consumers so all they have to do is assemble the main ingredients together in their slow cooker, head to work and come home to a ready made meal."

The Beef Stew seasoning mix works with the juices from the beef and vegetables to make a full bodied stew seasoned with onion, garlic, black pepper, herbs and a splash of Burgundy red wine.

The Pot Roast seasoning mix teams up with the juices from the meat and vegetables to make a rich, flavourful gravy for mealtime. The gravy is lightly seasoned with onion, garlic, spice such as black pepper and herbs, including basil and bay leaf.

The unique BBQ Pork seasoning mix produces southern US style barbecue flavour that is sweet, tangy and slightly smoky with just the right amount of red pepper heat. The pork roast is so tender that it practically falls apart. It can also be used for a pulled pork sandwich.

The new Club House slow cooker seasoning mixes carry an MSRP of $1.49, and are available in the sauces/seasonings section of major grocery retailers across English Canada.

Two new rice mixes bring New Orleans to Canada this winter

McCormick Canada has launched two new Zatarain's rice mixes, Smothered Chicken and Rice Pilaf, marking the brand's first anniversary here in Canada.

The Zatarain's Smothered Chicken and Rice Pilaf mixes join three other successful items in the Canadian Zatarain's family: Jambalaya, Dirty Rice and Black Beans and Rice.

"The Zatarain's brand has made significant gains in Canada in its first year," says Kathlene Badeski, Marketing Category Manager, McCormick Canada. "Zatarain's helps make great rice dishes, a growing trend in Canadian cuisine, and are in line with healthy eating tips provided by Canada's Food Guide."

Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating recommends 5 to 12 servings of grain products daily. A half-cup of either pasta or rice is equivalent to one serving.

An iconic dish in Louisiana cooking, the Smothered Chicken rice mix is simple to cook and will please the whole family. Add one pound (.45 kg) of chicken to Zatarain's delicious blend of rice, gravy and savoury spices to create an authentic, hearty New Orleans meal in just 25 minutes.

Full of flavour, but not too spicy, Zatarain's Rice Pilaf combines long grain rice and orzo mixed with onion, garlic and red & green bell peppers to make a perfect complement to any meat, poultry or fish dish.

The new Zatarain's rice mixes carry an MSRP of $1.89, and are available in the specialty rice section of major grocery retailers across Canada.

Zatarain's rice mixes will help Canadian households properly celebrate Mardi Gras this year. The famous New Orleans festival kicks-off January 6, 2007 and ends February 20, 2007. Wear the Mardi Gras symbolic colours: purple (justice), green (faith) and gold (power) for that special Mardi Gras dinner.

Zatarain's is North America's leading maker of New Orleans-style foods, priding itself on great taste, high quality and a devotion to the city's cuisine. Since 1889, Zatarain's has been the authority on the fun and flavor of New Orleans. For cooking tips or recipes, visit www.zatarain.com. Call 1-800-265-2600 for other information.
