Severe Weather Tests Roofs Across the Nation

BREA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 7, 2006 -- The recent storms that tore through eight mid-western states hit home for Doug Setters and his family who live in an area of Indiana appropriately named "tornado alley." Growing tired of replacing shingles after each storm and fearing the loss of their house entirely, the Setters family made a decision that resulted in their homes' ability to not only stand up against Sunday's storm, but to come out looking like new. They bought a stone-coated steel roof.

After learning about the special interlocking panels on a Gerard Stone-Coated Steel roofing system, Doug Setters' mind was made up to re-roof for the last time. "I didn't want to have to replace the roof every year ... now I've got peace of mind and a great-looking roof."

In a different part of the country, with different weather conditions, a family of five is also feeling relieved for having installed a Gerard roof on their home. The Zimmermann's live in Colleyville, Texas, where hail can be the size of softballs and cause major damage to entire cities; similar to the 2" in diameter hail that shot down in parts of the country last Sunday. "Having seen the effects hail can have on one's home or business, I worried that it was only a matter of time before my family and my home would be hit," said Jack Zimmerman.

Stone-coated steel roofs are engineered to match or enhance the look of all other roofing materials such as shake, asphalt and tile. The difference is that unlike other roofs that need to be replaced after 17 years on average, stone-coated steel roofs can last a lifetime. They are built to withstand Mother Nature's severest conditions.

"Year after year we receive calls from relieved customers whose homes not only survived, but look like new after enduring extremely high winds, hurricane and wildfires. Sadly their neighbors were not as fortunate," said Ron Anderson, Director of Sales for Gerard Roofing Technologies.
