SF Medical Logs 21 Years of Product Excellence

Company Expands Offerings in Pharmaceutical and BioTech

HUDSON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 26, 2005 -- SF Medical, a wholly owned division of Chase-Walton Elastomers, a leading designer, developer and fabricator of silicone elastomer components, has officially come of age. Founded 21 years ago in 1984, SF Medical has grown in size and product offerings to become one of the leading providers of pharmaceutical and biotech products in the U.S. and abroad.

SF Medical is exhibiting its products at the Interphex show from April 26-28 in booth number C309.

Operating from its 52,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, SF Medical has grown by both product innovation and acquisition. In the early 1990s, the company announced its global expansion and has successfully expanded its product line globally.

In 2004, the company purchased B & M, Inc., a provider of silicone products primarily to the consumer healthcare market. The acquisition more than doubled SF Medical's liquid silicone capacity and opened new opportunities for the company to expand within the consumer healthcare market.

Earlier this year, SF Medical announced the appointment of Paul Cathcart to the position of Manager of Operations. According to Tim Pryce, President of Chase-Walton, "Paul brings to the company more than 25 years of manufacturing experience in the production of pharmaceutical and biotech solutions. His industry knowledge, coupled with his expertise in implementing lean manufacturing methods, has greatly enhanced SF Medical's ability to be an even more aggressive contender in these rapidly developing markets."

In addition to Cathcart, SF Medical has also appointed Keith Poirier to the role of production manager.

"SF Medical has extensive engineering expertise," Cathcart said. "Our key strength is drawing on this expertise, leveraging both engineering and technology to provide our customers with the highest quality engineered products, such as our disposable high purity closed manifold system and our ability to provide laser part marking, which provides total raw material traceability."

"With this focus on technology and engineering, we can provide extraordinary levels of customer satisfaction," Pryce added. "For example, by utilizing statistical techniques in process validation, we can maximize our lean manufacturing efficiencies thus allowing us to provide innovative products to customers' specifications -- with an exceptionally high quality consistency."

SF Medical is committed to growing the business from its headquarters in Massachusetts. "We're continuing to invest in new products, committed to reaching new quality levels and consistently creating new processing techniques," Cathcart said.
