SFGate.com Launches New Online Sports Page

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - October 16, 2007) - SFGate.com, the online home of the San Francisco Chronicle, launched a comprehensive redesign of its Sports page. "We are happy to announce the launch of the new and improved SFGate Sports, home of the most comprehensive Bay Area sports coverage from the San Francisco Chronicle. As you will see, we have made a lot of changes," said Peter Negulescu, Vice President/Digital Media. "The new site is geared toward creating the best and most complete experience for Bay Area sports fans. Many of our improvements are based on feedback we've received from our users."

"First you'll notice a new look," said Negulescu. "We've given SFGate Sports a brighter and less cluttered design and simplified the navigation, which is now at the top of the page and will become the standard navigation for all of SFGate over the next several months.

"We've also made it easier to find related content, such as your favorite sports columnists, blogs and podcasts. You'll discover new photo galleries of memorable sports moments, your favorite teams and popular players. The new site runs faster and more smoothly and provides you with more news, scores and stats from around the leagues.

"We're delighted by the initial responses from users thus far," said Negulescu. "We think our advertisers will be pleased with their new ad positions, and users will enjoy the increased interactivity the page now offers. Stay tuned for more updates."
